The second African Climate Summit in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, concluded today with a rallying call for stakeholders to honor their commitments towards achieving climate goals.

Speaking after the session, Machakos Deputy Governor Francis Mwangangi, who represented the Machakos County Government, said the summit had made significant progress in mobilizing support from foreign partners but stressed the need for greater local commitment to environmental conservation.

He emphasized tree planting as a key agenda, citing Kenya’s ambitious plan to plant 15 billion trees, which he said should inspire other African nations.

“Similar calls go to our farmers, who should now embrace smart farming as a milestone towards our broader goal of protecting the environment,” Mwangangi said.
