Machakos Deputy Governor Francis Mwangangi has strongly opposed the planned introduction of an e-procurement system, terming it suspicious and ill-intentioned.
Speaking at Wiper Party headquarters in Karen, Nairobi, Mwangangi claimed the move signals a major corruption scheme designed to lock out oversight mechanisms and limit transparency in public procurement.
“This is a scandal meant to cripple accountability and create loopholes for a few individuals in government to squander public resources,” he said, warning that Kenyans would resist what he termed as an “evil intention to plunder their resources.”
Mwangangi accused the Kenya Kwanza administration of attempting to impose a “dictatorship” that would open avenues for corruption, adding that such efforts would be met with strong resistance.
The Deputy Governor also condemned the recent heckling of Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka in Tharaka Nithi, accusing Deputy President Kithure Kindiki of orchestrating the incident.
“As a national leader, he should be uniting Kenyans, not mobilizing goons to embarrass a leader of Kalonzo’s stature. If he does not apologize for the heinous act, we will restrict him from visiting our region,” Mwangangi said.
He further defended Kalonzo, describing him as a peaceful leader who has never incited hostility during his tours, questioning why a deputy president would “stoop so low” as to disrupt his engagements.
