Former Kenyan Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria has broken his silence following the recent impeachment of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, strongly opposing the ethnic blame games emerging in political debates. Kuria cautioned against the dangerous trend of casting collective blame on the Kikuyu community, warning that such rhetoric only deepens divisions and undermines national cohesion.

Speaking on the unfolding political drama, Kuria emphasized that holding one individual accountable for political actions should not translate into targeting an entire community. He argued that scapegoating communities for the failures or missteps of leaders sets a dangerous precedent that could erode Kenya’s unity and fuel unnecessary tensions.

The outspoken politician urged leaders within the Kenya Kwanza administration to rise above ethnic-based narratives and instead focus on delivering on promises made to Kenyans. He stressed that Kenyans are more concerned about the high cost of living, unemployment, and governance challenges than ethnic squabbles. “Nation-building requires sobriety, inclusivity, and accountability not blame games,” Kuria noted.

His remarks come at a critical moment, as political divisions continue to widen following Gachagua’s impeachment. Kuria’s call serves as a reminder that unity, dialogue, and responsible leadership remain key to steering Kenya away from destructive politics of ethnicity. His statement also resonates with Kenyans who are increasingly demanding issue-based politics rather than the recycling of divisive rhetoric.
