Justice in the high-stakes murder conspiracy case against a 72-year-old man in Naivasha is finally back in motion after over a year of delays. The court has now ordered the case to start afresh on September 24, following the recusal of the previous magistrate due to mounting public scrutiny.
Chief Magistrate Nathan Lutta directed that the matter be heard in a lower court, putting an end to a long period where the prosecution was accused of stalling the process with flimsy excuses.

Francis Muya, the elderly suspect at the center of the case, faces five counts of conspiracy to commit murder. Prosecutors allege that between March and May 2024, he, along with his daughter and her fiancé, both currently in the United States, orchestrated a plot to eliminate his estranged wife and four of their children.
Court documents reveal that Muya allegedly met with hired killers in a Nakuru hotel and agreed to pay over Ksh.3 million for the murders, supposedly driven by a bitter land dispute over a prime plot in Molo town. One of the would-be assassins, Paul Waithaka, has since turned state witness, giving a sworn statement that paints a chilling picture of family betrayal.

The fresh start ordered by the Naivasha court offers the victims' family a long-overdue chance at justice. Their lawyer, Mbugua Macharia, welcomed the move, citing months of courtroom stagnation.
With the daughter and her fiancé still wanted, and one of the alleged assassins now cooperating with the state, the case promises to expose the dark layers of a family conflict that spiraled into an alleged murder-for-hire scheme.
